11:15pm: Introducing...
My new nephew, Alexander.... born August 15th at 12:21pm, 7 lbs. 15 oz. 21 and 3/4 inches long. Mommy, baby, Daddy and big sister Sophia are all doing well (although Sophia is having a serious bout of the green-eyed monsters right about now).
Yay!!! A new little one to spoil rotten!!! :D

(I was going to insert a pic, but alas, this is a free account, and I am not permitted. Trust me, he's cute.)

1:11pm: My Friend Steve
No, not THAT Steve... and not the other Steve, either... sorry.

When I was a senior in high school I was in the fall production of "You Can't Take It With You", wherein I portrayed the Russian Duchess, Olga Katrina. Not my biggest or best role, but I had fun with it nonetheless, and much of that fun was due to a freshman named Steve, who played the Irish butler. Together with my friend Lori we had a BALL in that show and got into all kinds of trouble together.
My freshman year of College I went back to my old high school to see the Spring Musical "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat", starring none other than... my friend Steve. It was UNHEARD of for a sophomore to have a lead role in ANYTHING, especially the spring musical, which was always co-directed by Mr. Hunsicker, the choir director. If you were not one of the choir darlings AND A SENIOR, your chances for a lead in the spring musical was nil. However.... that particular year the theater teacher (and usually the other co-director of the musical), Mrs. Keeler, was out sick with cancer, so a guest director was called in to help out with the acting bits. This guy INSISTED on having Steve play Joseph, when all the rest of the high school just ASSUMED that the role would go to senior choir darling, Gibbs Tolsdorf. Gibbs instead got the role of the Pharoah.... still a good role, but not what he wanted. It was quite the scandal at East high.
Needless to say... Steve kicked ass. He was amazing. He sounds just like the guy from A-ha, which I knew, having driven around with Steve in my car, blaring A-ha on the stereo and singing along. He has an amazing talent.
Fast-forward to the year 2001. Some Disney friends and I took a trip into Orlando to see a Shakespeare-in-the-Park production of "As You Like It" and as I'm perusing through the program, I notice one of the players was named Steve Lyons. "Heh... I knew a Steve Lyons in high school..." I flip back to the bios, and there is his picture. Color me shockded. I stuck around after the production to say hi and then HE was shockded as well, but we got together a couple times while he was in town, and kept in touch for a while after he went back up north again. I like to keep tabs on him now and then and so when I stumbled across his MySpace page, it made it much easier. He's getting ready to fulfill one of his dreams, by putting out his own album. I couldn't be more proud.
